Amazon Alexa has announced that it will launch a program that can impersonate your deceased grandmother

Amazon’s Alexa has announced that it will launch a program capable of summoning a fearsome personal assistant from beyond the grave.

Amazon’s Alexa has announced that it will launch a program capable of impersonating the voices of the dead.

The update is said to make Alexa able to transcribe any audio after hearing less than a minute of audio. Create the device’s susceptibility to impersonate relatives of dead users.

Alexa Vice President Rohit Prasad said the company’s goal is to “make memories last after so many of us have lost someone we love”.

Speaking at Amazon’s Re:Mars conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Prasad declared that we are “live in the golden age of artificial intelligence” where computers are increasingly able to do unimaginable work.

“We undoubtedly live in the golden age of artificial intelligence, where our dreams and our science fiction are becoming a reality,” he said.

A video showing off the new feature showed a child asking, “Alexa, can Grandma finish reading The Wizard of Oz?”

Alexa got it right and moved on to a smoother tone that mimics an older woman.

Prasad noted that the new technology allowed the company to produce high-quality sound using very limited samples.

“The way we’ve achieved that is by framing the problem as a voice transduction task rather than a speech generation pathway,” he said.

The development came after a recent controversy over user privacy after a woman revealed that Amazon was storing extracts of her voice.

An Amazon spokesperson said users have complete control over what the multinational company has retained.

“We give customers transparency and control over their Alexa experience.

Customers can easily review and delete their audio recordings, or choose not to save them at all, at any time.

“Customers can import their mobile phone contacts into the Alexa app so they can use features like hands-free calling and messaging; this optional feature, which customers need to set up, can be disabled at any time.

“Finally, you can grant permissions to Alexa to use certain data, such as your mobile device’s geographical location, to provide relevant results (such as weather, traffic, and restaurant recommendations), and you can manage these permissions in the app.”
