Brisbane was the second best Australian city, ranked 27th.

Adelaide and Perth ranked 30th and 32nd, respectively.

These three cities were in the top 10 last year, but fell off the offside rankings due to their slow return to normal life after strict Covid restrictions.

“Cities that were at the top of our ranking before the pandemic have rebounded on the back of their stability, good infrastructure and services, as well as enjoyable leisure activities,” the report stated.

Victorian Prime Minister Daniel Andrews praised the result.

“It’s hard to get a table in a restaurant, it’s hard to get a hotel room,” he told AAP.

“City back. We are thriving and Victorians can be proud of what they have achieved.”

The Syrian capital, Damascus, Lagos in Nigeria, and Tripoli in Libya were ranked as the three worst cities to live in.
