Steve Irwin: Robert Irwin’s emotional Father’s Day message to his late father

Robert Irwin paid tribute to his late father Steve.

The video message – posted to mark Father’s Day, which was celebrated last weekend in other parts of the world – shows Steve, Robert and his sister Bindi having fun at the Australia Zoo.

Steve Irwin died in 2006, when Robert was just three years old, after a stingray pierced his chest.

The 18-year-old TikTok video showed father and son hugging, walking along the beach and playing with a lizard.

He captioned the video, “I had the best dad in the world.”

“I think about him and remember nothing but the good times.

“I wish you all a wonderful Father’s Day in the United States – sending love to those who couldn’t celebrate with their dad.”

On Twitter, Robert posted another tribute – this time praising son-in-law Chandler for being a great dad.

Robert wrote: “Father’s Day is a day filled with emotions – I think about my father often and remember him fondly.”

“But now, I also think and admire my son-in-law Chandler and what a wonderful father to my niece, Grace. “I am glad she has such a fun and kind person to help guide her through life.”

Robert’s followers sent out emotional messages of support after watching the clip.

Someone said “I wasn’t emotionally ready for this tbh”.

Another wrote: “He was a father to anyone without a father to take them on adventures as a child and taught some of us how to be brave when facing wild animals.”

Another replied, adding a heart emoji: “He would be very proud of you, Robert IrwinBindi Irwin.” ️
