AFL 2022 news: Jason Dunstall’s brutal sledge Luke Darcy, Sam Darcy, Western Bulldogs vs Fremantle Dockers

Darcy was riding high in the days leading up to the game after naming his son, Sam, to make his AFC Champions League debut for the Bulldogs.

Sam scored his first touch of his career in the first minutes after an interception mark.

Not long after getting dumped for a second time, Dunstall saw an opportunity and took it with both hands.

“He actually owned more than his dad had at his debut,” Dunstoll said brutally on Fox Footy.

This note elicited some laughter from within the comment box before Dunstal commented: “Maybe very soon.”

Luke Darcy’s debut came in Round 21, 1994 when the Bulldogs defeated St. Kilda 117-72, Darcy ending the competition with two balls in his name.

Sam surpassed his elimination tally in the second quarter when he scored his third kick in the competition.

The 19-year-old was named second-choice in the 2021 AFL Draft as the father and son pick with his debut announced on Thursday afternoon.

Standing at 205cm, the teenager put on an amazing display this past weekend in the VFL with 20 eliminations and 14 pullouts.

Becoming the third generation of Darcy pulling Dogs guernsey, Luke had a great run in 226 games where David Darcy played 133 games.

Luke presented Sam with his blouse in a touching video uploaded to social media by Bulldogs on Friday.
