Tesla owner Elon Musk has accused Twitter of fraud, saying the social media giant misled it before it agreed to buy it for $44 billion.
Mr. Musk made the allegations Thursday as he prepared to battle Twitter in a lawsuit that would force it to complete the acquisition.
The number of bot accounts is still in dispute with Twitter maintaining less than five percent of all activity on the site.
The platform also says that Musk had no right to walk away from the deal if the count turned out to be wrong.
Twitter says it has complied with all of its commitments in the deal and will vote with shareholders on the merger in September.
